A Pair of Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault resulted in the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
